Lorem Ipsum is a beautifully produced argument against empty production

By spending three films on dialogue that communicates nothing, GUT Mexico City and Purga Films separate the spectacle of execution from the value of an actual idea.

Campaign: GUT Mexico City · Production: Purga Films

The seduction of Lorem Ipsum is immediate. Its mafia, western and samurai worlds arrive with the confidence of finished genre cinema. Then the characters speak, and the campaign reveals the hole at the centre of all that assurance: there is no script, only the filler used before one exists.

Craft as bait

The campaign comes from GUT Mexico City and Purga Films, with the same lorem-ipsum dialogue placed inside three distinct dramatic traditions. That repetition is more than a running gag. It creates a controlled comparison: settings, costumes and genre change around the words, while the emptiness of those words remains perfectly stable.

This is why the work’s polish is not merely decoration. The films need to look persuasive before their argument can land. They let execution make an initial claim on the audience’s attention, then use the placeholder script to show the limit of execution on its own. An image can imply importance; it cannot permanently substitute for a point of view.

A demonstration that critiques itself

Lorem Ipsum therefore sells AI production capability by dramatising what production capability cannot supply. The absence of an idea becomes the campaign’s idea, a contradiction sturdy enough to survive three versions and later earn a Bronze Lion at Cannes. Its confidence is persuasive because the work is willing to make its own impressive surfaces the target.
