In Sawdust, a woodworking project begins with pieces of wood and a shop full of equipment. The model grows through operations such as cutting and joining, so the plan follows the work needed to build it.
Taylor Finley describes a simulator where people and AI agents use the same operations. An agent can begin from a picture, sketch or description; the project can produce a bill of materials and a cut plan.
Even the width of a saw blade is accounted for. Offcuts stay in the workshop unless they are deliberately discarded.
